Interview

  • Name 5 things that you can’t live without.
    Love. Food. Water. Shelter. Faith.
  • How do you go that ‘extra mile' in your life?
I listen. I look people in the eye. I use my manners. I express my gratitude. I do my best to consider how my actions and movements might impact those around me.
  • What would you like your followers to know about you that is unique and even a bit personal?
I have a strong, daily spiritual practice that informs my world-view and guides me in my daily life. I make sure I learn something new every day.
Even if we don't connect or get along, I will respect your spirit, no matter what.
  • What makes you stand out from the crowd?
I'm confident enough to "march to my own drum" and keep my focus on promoting peace and love. I view sex and relationships and life differently than most people I know.
These things don't make me better than anyone else, they just are different that some other people. There is value in everyone and there is nothing real to compare.
  • What are your greatest personal traits?
My intuition is pretty strong and I'm an emotional functioner, so I'm good at anticipating situations, feelings, and the needs of the guys I see. I'm good at taking a lead and guiding situations without feeling pushy.
  • What’s your lifestyle? What makes you who you are?
I'm a creature of habit in many ways. I like routine, which comes in particularly helpful when it comes to getting my butt to the gym or eating well so that my body is healthy. I have a daily spiritual practice and a strong network of friends to keep my mind healthy. I have an edge - so you'll never find me being completely "good" - and that makes me someone you want to be around.
I'm also a verbal guy in all respects. I'm gonna speak up during the day, and I'm gonna use words to get you off, and I can sometimes ramble.
  • If you and I were on the beach having some wine and great food, what would you tell me about yourself.
I'd like us to talk about the things that matter to us - what feeds our souls, what we care about, what makes us tick. Everyone has a story, and it's really fascinating to just listen and share.
I've got a new niece and nephew and spending a lot of time with them and my brother. My brother and I are up late at nights together, reminiscing and telling stories to each other. You'd probably hear some of that if we were hanging out.
  • What are your hobbies? What do you like to do in your spare time?
I love food! I'm a great cook and love to make food for the people I care about. I like to tinker and play around - I make my own bread, cocktail bitters, vinegar infusions and more.
I also love music. I'm always listening or finding music that is new to me. I'm the guy my friends turn to when they want to hear new music or need recommendations. I can play a few instruments and have written a few hundred songs. I'm not a great singer, though.
  • What is your ‘niche’?
I'm totally "the dude next door." I'm the guy you see around town that you lust after. I fit in and stand out all at the same time. I'm the kind of guy you can introduce to your mom or friends or keep to yourself. I'm not complicated, I'm just the dude next door.
  • What should others absolutely know about you?
I'm worth getting to know. I'm an active listener and enjoy "deep" conversations and light debates. People tell me that I smell good and that I'm like "walking sex." I'm a confident guy with few hang-ups. You can't scare me away and I like guys who want to share their secret desires.
  • What do you enjoy most about yourself?
The thing that I love most about myself is that I have it that my life works. I have plans and goals and I'm driven, but I can also take a hint when the universe is pointing me in a certain direction. I actively seek to create win-win situations and solutions. I'm out to memorialize the queer past and contribute to a queer future that is about a strong community keenly focused on peace and love.
  • How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or you are more of a homebody?
I love to travel and plan 1-3 trips a month. I love meeting new people and seeing new places, but NYC is home and is an excellent place to be, so I always make sure I have plenty of home time, too. A lot of people like to have me travel using my trip sponsorship program, which you can read about by visiting http://thedudenextdoor.com/meet/.
  • What kind of diet and fitness regiment do you follow?
Food-wise, I eat a mostly plant-based diet and practice daily intermittent fasting. I workout 6 days a week limited to no more than an hour a day to avoid overtraining. I'm regimented when it comes to food and exercise but not so strict that I don't ever have fun.
