Interview

  • If you have to pick one thing that everyone else should absolutely know about you, what would it be?
We all have a wild animal inside us. Mine's a ravenous beast.
  • What is your ‘niche’?
All topics interest me, so I'm good with conversation. Simple things excite me, as do the elaborate; in other words, mild to wild gets my full attention. I'm a former dork — broken glasses and slicked hair, who was shy — that started working out, got Lasik, got curious, learned to be social, and BAM ! Here I am. I'm kind because I wasn't always treated with kindness as a young boy. I tend to connect well with others because I always treat them with respect. I listen to what they need, give them genuine unforced love when I sense they need it, or I discipline them if that's what they fucking need. It's an interesting morphing thing that takes over me. It's never forced. It just comes out and it's ready to exist. I hope that makes sense.
  • What are your hobbies? What do you like to do in your spare time?
It's all about making music for me. I wake up to it, work out to it, make it, write it, and sing it. There's only one place where I prefer not to hear music; in the bedroom because I will start going to the beat, if you know what I mean, or I’ll start paying attention to the lyrics and the vocals, and my brain starts getting ideas on composing something new. That distraction usually happens with pop music and classical. The typical gay-club stuff is ok in the bedroom situation; it can drown out noise or give a certain kind of vibe that you can find at certain gay establishments.
  • How do you go that ‘extra mile' in your life?
I double check, triple check, quadruple check that the needs of others are met. I don't want to be average or just "ok". I want to be the best.
  • Tell us what you consider to be your greatest life experience.
Good God, there's so many! One of my favorite experiences was going on a trip with my best friends and doing nature stuff all day long. After the daily excursions, we came to nest in a cottage with a fireplace to end the day.
  • What’s your lifestyle? What makes you who you are?
I am many things — sometimes in a contradictory way. I am very health conscious, but I still have a little bit of weakness when it comes to sweets. I love being home in my man cave. It’s where I make music, read (listen to) books, cook, enjoy tv and movies and I could stay there for days. I love being outdoors in wide open spaces. It grounds me — I know the cliche is overused, but I feel one with nature. Overall, what makes me who I am, is doing my best to enjoy every moment in life and not sweat the small stuff.
  • What makes you stand out from the crowd?
If we're talking about comparing other men to myself, I'll start bysaying that a lot of us are very similar, I think many gay men have had some form of heavy insecurity and/or a need for validation at some point in their lives. Believe it or not, it's one of the reasons that many of us get in this line of work.

The pageant, "final-answer", is that I'm still insecure and down to earth, and even though that is true, I have worked really hard to overcome many of those insecurities. The thing that would distinguish me from people I know, is that I am aware of my character defects and I get better every year at becoming a better man, inside and out. It's all about self-care. Once you start learning how to care for yourself, you're open to really care about other people you meet. That goal never ends for me.
  • What would you like your followers to know about you that is unique and even a bit personal?
I'm actually very shy when I meet people out and about on any given day; especially at parties. I get very uncomfortable and want to hide in a corner. It's not so much unique, but it's something most people don't know about me. It's different when I'm with one person ( or 2, or 3), because in small groups, it’s easy to figure out what everyone needs. When you're a person who likes to please, it gets overwhelming trying to make sure everyone in a large group is happy.
  • What do you do for fun?
I love to go to concerts, theatre, and musicals. I love any form of music or expressive art.

I enjoy exercise. It is something I do consistently.

I love eating out. I'm a foodie. I like to cook.
  • What are your greatest personal traits?
My conversation skills and being able to pick up on vibes. I can make someone feel comfortable within the first 5 minutes of meeting. I'm also good at figuring out what someone is looking for without having to ask.
  • How often do you travel? Do you prefer to travel or you are more of a homebody?
I'm a homebody at the moment. I can go either way, but it goes in phases.
  • What kind of diet and fitness regiment do you follow?
I eat 6 small meals a day. I break up a meal (box half of it) as soon as I've cooked it or received the order from a food place.
I eat tiny snacks in between meals.
I do core training, hiking, and right now I am loving the M5 Trainer by Bowlex. That machine is the ONE.
  • If you and I were on the beach having some wine and great food, what would you tell me about yourself.
If it was as about my life specifically, I'd say it was rough at times but I mangaged to get through it. Growing up gay in a christian, Mexican/Lebanese family wasn't easy. It boggles me still that I picked Kristian as my name. I liked a singer named Christian at the time and I needed to pick something, so I slapped a "K" on it, and now I'm stuck with it. If I could choose again, it would be Diego Rox, but people know me as Kristian now.

I'd also say that I'm grateful, and lucky to be able to travel to many beautiful places around the world. I'd thank you for bringing me to this amazing beach, make a toast, finish our snacks, and go inside for a minute.
  • What should others absolutely know about you?
I am not a guy that forces himself to do things he doesn't want to do. If I'm doing it, it's because I like it. I'm easy to please and easy to entertain, because I'm not focused on what's missing, or what could be done better, instead I'm present to what we're doing and enjoying the fuck out of it.

I've moved past the bars and parties and simply love hanging out. I never lost my need to play and I like having fun and experimenting with new things.

    I’m a really good teacher.
  • What do you enjoy most about yourself?
My never-ending curiosity. I like to learn something new every day.
  • Name 5 things that you can’t live without.
    1. Exercise
    2. Listening, or making music
    3. Peanut butter
    4. Technology
    5. Humor
